Politics and Poetics of the Rainforest

The artistic expression of Amazonian Indigenous peoples is proof that these communities’ forms of thought have not been forgotten. Through its materials, textures, colors and representations, this art expresses something inaccessible to alphanumeric texts and functions as a bridge to the region’s collective memory.

Mediated by the power of visionary, entheogenic plants, shamanic rituals take us to worlds, in which the borders separating different beings and modes of existence are fluid. Indigenous cosmovisions and knowledge, passed on orally through myths and other narratives, offer an essential ethical-philosophical contribution to contemporary thought.
